October 19, 2004 -------------------------   Mark your cowboy boot calenders! I'll be at the will be at the Grand National Rodeo in San Francisco October 29th through November 7th, 2004 with custom bootmaker Clay Hathaway (Denver, CO). Whether I'm goofy sidekick or glamorous spokesmodel...you can be the judge?! The Lonesome Ace Boot Company booth will be in the main concourse, booth #7 (next to the beer.) Come get your feet measured for a pair of custom boots...or just stop by for a visit. See you there! Also, I've updated my "bookshelf" page with Tyler Beard's brand new book ...and AT LAST an easy and affordable way to track down those great out o'print cowboy boot books. February 18, 2004 -------------------------   Attention Cowboy Boot Collectors! Tyler Beard and fellow "Bootist" Evan Voyles are selling some of their finest cowboy boots and boot memorabilia...And the rumors are true, Tyler is sellin' his very first pair! The little cowboy boots "that started it all" are a pair of custom red and green Christmas boots, a gift from his parents at age three. Along side them on the auction block are four pairs of fully hand tooled one-of-a-kind boots, and the "Double Eagles" pictured on page 24 of the "The Art of the Boot". This huge one day auction will be held on February 28, 2004 in Waco, Texas. If you cannot attend...e-mail (asantiques@yahoo.com) or call (254) 799-6044 for information on absentee and phone bids. Tyler will be there signing his books and bidding his boots a fond farewell during the Open House Preview on February 27th from 10am-6pm. In November, Tyler's latest book, "Lone Star Living", was released by Time Warner. The 300-page large format book showcases the most unique ranches and homes found in Texas. And yes, he did manage to sneak boots in throughout the book...Dave Little has a two-page spread in one ranch, a closet wall full of "killer" cowboy boots! "Lone Star Living" is currently on sale at Amazon.com for just $28 (with free shipping!) So, what have I been up to?? This week I'm in El Paso, TX visiting whole bunch of boot companies. A new "field trip" feature is in the works, but you can check out my WebLog for a few updates from the road. I've made a few additions to my bootmaker list. Look for two more custom makers: Case Trade Boots (Eagleville, MO), and Huseby Custom Boots (Bonners Ferry, ID). I am also pleased to give out a couple of well-earned gold stars to William Shanor Jr. (Ashland, OR), and the newly added Huseby Custom Boots. December 5, 2003 -------------------------   This could be an all time record! I've added a total of 10 new custom bootmakers to my Texas Bootmaker List ...including, Burk Boot Shop (Burkburnett, TX); Cavazos Boot Factory (Mercedes); El Paso Boots (El Paso); Daly Boots (San Antonio); Jim Anz Custom Boots (Olney); Kolton Ross Roberts (Jacksboro); Mercedes Boot Company (Fort Worth); Ron's Custom Boots & Repair (Longview); Tejas Custom Boots (Houston) and Trail Town Custom Leather in Saint Jo. I've also updated the area code for Kimmel Boots (Comanche), and changed the address of Rusty Franklin Boot Company (San Angelo). Also, I'm pleased to say I have posted a gold star next to the name of Mr. Duck Menzies (Temple, TX). Don't miss seeing the T. O. Stanley Boot Company's brand new website! It's got photos of over 25 different cowboy boot designs, not counting the all the possibilities that exisit with the different scallops, collars, heel and toe styles. (Pssst! ...my favorite photos are #17 and #21.) October 1, 2003 -------------------------   I have some sad news. Bootmaker, James Leddy passed away last night. I took this photo in July 2000, when I spent a morning at his shop in Abilene, TX. Today, I have been remembering my visit...and remembering a man full of knowledge, skill, and generosity. July 5, 2003 -------------------------   Britney Spear's cowboy boots have been causin' quite a stir. May 13, 2003 -------------------------   Today is my birthday...and what better time to have the grand opening of my new "Tip Jar"! (Visit my WebLog for the current total.) I'm happy to say there's a new Quick Topic Discussion Space devoted to cowboy boots. This forum is moderated by bootmaker Tex Robin. Just like before, you'll find the link on my Bulletin Board Page. Some of you might have noticed the previous QT forum got a bit "unruly" at times--Mr. Robin and some new ground rules ought to be enough to keep everybody on their best behavior. I've updated the listing for Mr. William Shanor Jr. (Ashland, OR) on my list of custom bootmakers. Keep your eyes peeled, there'll be a web page showin' his Western boots soon! Also, Eddie and Kathy Kimmel have sent out the registration materials for this year's Boot and Saddlemakers' Round-Up. It will be held October 3-5, 2003 in Wichita Falls, TX. Now, you'll find a few new listings, and some brand new web links to Texas Boot Birdhouses (Round Rock, TX), and Diamond D Ranch (Odessa, TX). A new listing for Kingo Shoes USA, Inc. has been added to my Boot Companies page. Kingo.com is North America's point of sale for Sendra Boots. Take a look at their "redone" retros...they've added a little pink python to some of our favorite old patterns. Did I say you couldn't find pointy toes on a "shelf boot"? The times...they are a changin'! (For all of you wondering why this front page looks a little shorter...I moved some of my old updates to a different page.) I've got a new mailing address.) March 19, 2003 -------------------------   I've got a couple projects in the works...but I did finish my updates to the "Boot Companies Page". It now has new links to the Ariat, Breyer International, and Durango Boot websites. March 10, 2003 -------------------------   My list of bootmakers "Outside the U.S." keeps growin'...I've added a new web link to Alberto Fasciani's website, and I've reorganized all the listings by country . Also, there's been a change of address for Bootmaker John Newbury...his listing now resides on the Washington page! March 3, 2003 -------------------------   A whole pile of cowboy boots have shown up on the "Group Photo Page" ...like this one from Richard O. Cook Custom Boots (Stonewall, TX). I've updated the bootmaker list with a new link to the Capitol Saddlery website ... and a well-earned gold star for Dave J. Hutchings' Boots in Thornton, CO. February 21, 2003 -------------------------   Well, now there's a page on my site that's updated with today's ebay cowboy boot auctions every time you visit. You can find it linked to the updated sole-searchin' page. February 20, 2003 -------------------------   Here's a new web link for all you in that snowy Eastern Standard Time... Jim Covington, Bootmaker has a new website from Gardner, Massachusetts. Still more updates for the custom bootmaker list: I've added a new listing (and a gold star!) for Palace Boot Shop (Houston, TX)... T.O. Stanley Boot Company (El Paso, TX) got added to my "boot companies" page...and I've updated Jack Rowin's e-mail address in Manton, CA. February 19, 2003 -------------------------   More updates for the custom bootmaker list...new to the page are listings for T.O. Stanley Boot Company (El Paso, TX), and ROPERO (...website translated to English) in France. I gave long-over-due gold star ratings to to Wheeler Boot Company (Houston, TX), and Melody Dawkins (Porterville,CA)....And, I also updated the e-mail addresses for Cottle's Boot & Shoe Repair (Amarillo, TX) and MJN Boot & Leather Shop (Tea, SD). Last but not least, the nice folks at Valley Boot & Shoe in Overton, Nevada have a brand new website. Take a look! February 17, 2003 -------------------------   Today, I made a few updates to my custom bootmaker list. I've added new web links to Matt Newberry Custom Boots (Halfway, OR), and Dorwart Custom Cow-Boy Boots (Guthrie, OK). I've also added a new listing for McGlasson Custom Boots in Spokane, Washington...and updated the shop address belonging to Sorrell Custom Boots (Guthrie, OK). February 16, 2003 -------------------------   It's true what they say, Texas is "like a whole other country"...so, I've listed the nearly 100 Texas custom bootmakers by region, and then also county-by-county. My "boot companies" page now has brand new web links to Liberty Boot Co. and Rios of Mercedes. Have you seen their sites? You oughta. Also included on the page are two new listings for Champion Attitude Boots and Champion Boots. ...And please, anyone who signed my old guestbook should feel free to sign my new one.
