  (title) Boots as Art
  • A national treasure: A pair of cowboy boots custom made for Dwight D. Eisenhower (1953.) A gift from Zeferino and Eli Rios of Mercedes,Texas.

  • Visit The Custom Cowboy Boot & Shoes Forum, and scroll through its many current and archived photos. The forum is used by today's talented bootmakers and collectors as a place to share expertise, bootmaking resources and photos of their finished works (and vintage finds.)

  • Maestro Gaxiola "King of the Cowboy Artist": Whether it's a handstitched boot, a painted canvas, or a piece of carved leather...one thing is for certain, if it's made by the Maestro, it's a priceless work of art. That's 'cuz he's makin' art for art's sake, and it's never for sale!

  • The cowboy boots showin' up on fashion runways maybe "ready to wear", but they're certainly not off-the-shelf! They've got high HIGH heels, contrasting colors and plenty of exotic foxing. Christian Dior proves my point that cowboy boots go with...well, ummmm....just about everything.

  • ...and of course, there are lots of photos (and even some bootmaking video clips) in my weblog.

(title) Art as Boots

  • Join in the fun by using Jan Brett's web page to design your own pair-o-boots...and if you send them to me when yer done, I'll put them up where everyone can see 'em. (NOTE: Jan Brett is the author and illustrator of Armadillo Rodeo. Her webpage is continually updated with brand new fun for little buckaroos... so check back often!)

  • Boots! ...Art from those with feet & minds still growin'. I truly love this page.

  • Reflect upon cowboy boots "Made for Peace" (Berkeley, CA). I discovered this tile on a community peace wall, originally built during the United States' Gulf War...the tile's artist is unknown.

  • Visit SNAPSHOTS of SAN FRANCISCO. Emilie is a woman before her time ...perhaps the web's first photoblogger. She takes beautiful pictures of everyday things (& they're good ones, 'suppose that's how the page got to be award-winning). Boots appear in a rare trip outside city limits & in a neighborhood Thrift Town.
