Distress Signal

Yes, it's true. I can see into the future.

A year ago I wrote about "adding character" to your boots. Today, Lucchese will charge you $493.95 and save you all the trouble.

The men's distressed Pony-Brown-Buffalo cowboy boot (pictured above) is one of a few of "new" hand-worn styles now available from Lucchese...no one will ever guess that you've got a cushioned insole hidden under all that onery style.

What's next? I predict a return to the "rough-out," suede-footed boot with a smooth leather stitched top. My hunch is next year we'll get a wider, squarer selection of toe styles.

(Hey! ...but thanks to Back at the Ranch, you can be just one step ahead.)

Jenn,
This is my first time on your weblog and I dig it. I love it when my instincts are confirmed by a reliable outside source! I totally agree with your "trend instinct" regarding suede and the wider/squarer toe. I've been really keen on suede forever, but have had a "feeling" about it for 18 months now from a design perspective. I have a line I'm working on with my pointed Imperio toe as well as a square toe that's rather funky actually - more modern than usual - I need to give that toe a name. Anyway, I'll send you photos end of July.

As for distressed look, I've got some great exotic skins (alligator and lizard) that I've come across that hit the spot. I'll send photos of those boots also.

Love that sharp nose of yours girl!

Best,
